Potting soil is a specialized product that is purposely designed with the challenges a plant will face when growing in a container. Container gardening is a balancing act between your plant’s needs without the safety net of a full garden to absorb and mitigate issues, essentially your plant’s ecosystem is isolated.

Potting soil is a specialized product that is purposely designed with the challenges a plant will face when growing in a container. Container gardening is a balancing act between your plant’s needs without the safety net of a full garden to absorb and mitigate issues, essentially your plant’s ecosystem is isolated.
There are many factors that will determine your container plants health that our potting soil will assist you with. Keeping your soil moist is important to make sure your plant has the water it needs to be able to live, however over saturation of soil can lead to root rot, fungus growth, and worse root suffocation. This is why our potting soil includes substances like perlite, vermiculite, and peat moss. These additives serve two important purposes. When they are in contact with water they expand and absorb water like sponges, reducing the moisture content of your soil. As water is used by your plant or evaporates these additives begin to release moisture back into your soil. This helps your plant stay properly waters and helps improves your soils aeration. Maintaining soil aeration in a container is critical especially when your container is not in a location to receive oxygen rich rain water. Small air pockets in your soil left by expanding and contracting additives allow oxygen to penetrate deep into your soil providing your plant’s root system with the oxygen it needs to survive.
Our potting soil is light and fluffy when dry indicating its high quality. Our supplies take great care in making sure that your potting soil is free from contaminants. They allow the potting soil to dry in large beds and essentially cook it in order to clear it of all fungus and pathogens that are trying to hitch a ride. Our potting soil also contains other organic additives like pine bark; Pine bark plays an important role in a container garden. It could absorb water and fertilizer acting as a slow release mechanism helping your roots receive a consistently. Additionally, since pine bark is an organic material, it breaks down over time adding more nutrients but more importantly lowering your container garden’s ph. Over time watering your plants with city water will raise the soil’s ph to a potentially deadly level due to the water’s alkaline nature.
Everglades is happy to provide its customers with our premium potting soil. We keep potting soil at our locations ready for instore pickup and delivery. We sell our potting soil by the 2 cubic foot bag or by the yard for those who have a large project. We can deliver this material onto any load bearing surface to prevent damage to under ground pipes and septic systems.
