A correctly applied layer of inorganic mulch blocks direct sunlight from reaching your soil. This lowers the temperature of your soil that reduces the amount of water your landscape loses to evaporation. This lowers your landscapes water requirements which saves you money. Additionally, blocking sunlight from reaching your soil acts as a weed preventative. Weeds that germinate on the surface on your soil will have to grow through the layer of Seminole rock to reach sunlight. If the layer is three to five-inches deep the weed will likely not survive. Naturally occurring soil erosion from wind and rainfall is also reduced by applying inorganic mulch.
