Needed a zero turn mower to replace my dead Snapper. All the respected reviews (like Consumer Reports, etc.) recommended the John Deere zero-turn mowers over their closest competitors.
I went and talked to Bill Porter in Plant City after registering online. Bill Porter listened to my needs, we decided on a Z345R after discussing the differences between E,M, & R series. They were out of stock as the John Deere plants were closed due to Covid 19.
When they came in mid November, I went back and talked to Bill Porter once again. He honored both the Veteran's Day bonus and the John Deere Platinum Veteran's Bonus even though it added to his time by making a phone call to make the computer accept both discounts. I had decided on the extended warranty (labor is $120/hour now) also.
We signed the contract and he said he would have it checked out and delivered Tuesday. Despite me spending only $3000 , Bill treated me like I was his only customer despite interruptions about bigger possible deals by phone. We broke protocol and shook hands (yes I disinfected afterwards)..
My wife became sick (non Covid) and I could not drop off check on Monday as agreed. On the power of our handshake, Bill had the lawnmower and paper work delivered Tuesday. Gas was full and the mower had been fully tested and adjusted. I traded a check for the keys and the mower runs great. Luckily I have 1/3 acre of empty field to practice as it is different steering than my ex-Snapper riding mower.
