What you need to know about Grey Pea Gravel

Pea gravel is commonly used in landscaping because of its cost-effective and versatile nature. Everglades gray pea gravel is made up of small, naturally rounded smooth stones or pebbles ranging in sizes from 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch. Gray pea gravel’s smooth texture and rich, natural appearance make it ideal for use in various landscaping projects, such as gardening, creating pathways, and filling spaces between stone pavers. Everglades is committed to providing top quality stones sourced from suppliers that engage in sustainable practices.

Our inorganic mulching products like gray pea gravel are often chosen by clients to enjoy having a tidy and low maintenance mulching solution for their landscape features. Unlike organic mulches, inorganic mulches do not need to be replenished yearly. Upfront costs for gray pea gravel are relatively higher than organic mulches such as our red mulch, however gray pea gravel has many favorable attributes. Gray pea gravel over time will become slightly discolored, but unlike our organic mulch products a deep clean is all that is required to bring our product back to its brand-new condition. Gardeners and landscapers that prefer to know what substances are being deposited into their soil enjoy using gray pea gravel as their mulching solution because it will not decompose nor add any substances over time.

We recommend adding a layer of gray pea gravel that is at least three inches in depth but no deeper than five to get the best possible functionality from our product. The benefits of using gray pea gravel in your landscape feature include reduced costs and creating a better soil environment. A protective layer of gray pea gravel spread around your plants reduces the amount of sunlight will reach your topsoil. This lowers the amount of water your landscape feature will require because to the reduction of evaporation. Additionally, seeds of unwanted plants have a hard time reaching sunlight after they germinate. The inaccessibility to sunlight acts as an effective weed control.

Gray pea gravel will prove a beautiful addition to any yard as it compliments most any landscaping feature. While gray pea gravel is commonly used in the construction of a gravel driveway, it can also be used to create an elegant garden path or an inviting front walkway. Gray pea gravel also serves a neutral background for plants or other outdoor decorations. The natural stones are an ideal edging material to highlight gardens, flower beds, and other landscaping features.

Everglades is excited to supply our customers with high quality gray pea gravel. You can purchase this product in 1/2 cu. ft. bags for small projects or home décor, or choose to buy in bulk by the yard.
